Antibiotics work against some bacterial infections, not every cough, cold or fever. WHO’s 2026 fact sheet says misuse and overuse of antimicrobials are major drivers of resistance.

Remember

  • Never use someone else’s antibiotics or save leftovers for a future illness.
  • Follow the label or prescription and ask a professional if you are unsure about a dose or missed dose.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist about allergies and other medicines.
  • Ask how to dispose of unused antibiotics.
